Healthy Eating Plan 2 My current eating habits have been an ongoing diet for approximately the last six years. Most of the food I eat is what I believed to be very healthy and nutritious. Most of the time I eat a nutritious diet and I am conscious of the foods I eat. As I have grown older I have been much more aware of the importance of eating a well balanced diet. Although the phrase “You are what you eat” is not literal, the foods we intake on a daily bases are major factors of what our health and bodies will become. The results of tracking the foods I eat in the food diary were both expected and somewhat surprising. I have always struggled with eating just nutritious food because I am a meat and potatoes type of person. The approach I take when eating is to try and stay with a well balanced diet of good and healthy choices but splurging once in a while is alright. As long as the splurging is kept to a minimum and with in moderation it helps to satisfy ones urges for less nutritious choices. Eating habits at times can definitely fall into several categories such as, foods that are available, foods that are comfortable, and foods that we have been accustomed to eating. Another habit I have become victim to is the repetitive cycle of eating the same things over and over. The ease of shopping is much better when one buys the same type foods each time they shop. The complacent approach can work but also presents one with a bored outlook if there is not much change. Regulating the food we take in and the nutritional values we consume is very important but we also must try and expand our eating habits to learn and enjoy other alternatives. The broadening of our diets with the proper foods can lead us to a better understanding and appreciation of the amount of nutritional foods available to us. MyPyramid website has helped me to understand better ways to gain the food areas that I
