I have not given or received help on the homework- Charles Daniel Bremnathan 2/9/2011 Charles Schwab 2007 0102-735-71 Schwab started as a discount broker but later became the first to offer electronic and website transactions to its clients. The technology it brought in the 90s was disruptive to the financial services industry and Schwab could capitalize well on it. Schwab had a strong commitment to high-tech innovation and customer focus. Schwab was not the cheapest among discount brokerages but offered better value and investment advice, and clients chose their broker based on trust; that was one reason Schwab had a large chain of retail. Schwab was not competing with electronic-only discount brokerages but was exploring segments it could target, so that it could become an alternative model to full-service brokerages. Schwab offered unbiased financial advice to its clients. Schwab had a good understanding of its innovation strategy and developed many first-to-market services that later became central financial components. Schwab was active in acquisitions and also expanding into all segments for growth. The market downturn in 2000 made revenues fall by about 50% but growth was back on track through innovation, developing new products, cost-cutting, and consolidation.
