2.7 – Micro-scale Cannizzaro Reaction with 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde Name: lab partner: Student number: AIM: The purpose of this experiment was to be able to prepare and isolate 4- chlorobenzyl alcohol and 4- chlorobenzoic acid from the cannizzaro reaction of 4- chlorobenzaldehyde . Introduction: benzaldehyde is an aldehyde that does not contain hydrogen therefore is does not undergo an aldol condensation reaction when reacting with a strong base .
