Assertion #1 The citizens of Darfur are under attack from rebel Arab African militias known as the Janjaweed. Evidence (logos) The Janjaweed are nomadic herding groups who need the more plentiful lands that are inhabited by the sedentary farmers of Darfur. Evidence (logos) According to an article written by Brian Steidele on the United States Holocaust Museum website viewed on March 23, 2008, the goal of the Janjaweed is to annihilate all of the African tribes of the region. Evidence (pathos) Can you imagine going to bed in fear every night? The citizens of Darfur do just that every night. Assertion #2 Not only do the citizens have to fear attack from the Janjaweed, but they must also fear the Sudanese government. Evidence (pathos) According to the website www.savedafur.com on March 24 th 2008, The current crisis in Darfur began in 2003. After decades of neglect, drought, oppression and small-scale
