Getting The Initial Look Quiet dim/dark room Doctor/film orientation Logical order of films Follow a consistent search pattern; obvious   detail  ABC’s Alignment      –  evaluate the straightness of a bone or the spine Bone      –  evaluate the structures of the bone (cortex, medullary canal, trabecular  pattern…) Cartilage      –  joint space evaluation Soft Tissue      –  air spaces and fat stripes, water and oil densities For the Cervical Spine  o Anterior Vertebral Body  line o Posterior Vertebral Body line o Spinolaminar Junction line o Supraspinous line Cervical spine motion: during right head rotation the right side of the Atlas will rotate                              Axis body will rotate to the                                                 C2  spinous process will rotate to the                            the cervical curve will appear to                                      during right lateral bending the right side of the Atlas will rotate
