Thoracic spine motion evaluation. The following evaluation is for levels T3-12. T1-T2 will be motioned as done in the cervical spine. Thoracic flexion SCP: 3 spinous processes or interspinous spaces. CP: Dr's fingertips NORMAL EXPECTED MOVEMENT: the spinous processes to open. Same biomechanics as in the lumbar spine. Thoracic Extension SCP: 3 spinous processes or interspinous processes. CP: Dr's fingertips NORMAL EXPECTED MOVEMENT:spinous processes to close If the segment fails to open and close, this indicates the segment as gone posterior and give "P" for first letter of the listing.

Thoracic Hyperextension:The doctor pinches the spinous using the thumb and the index finger. The doctor gently pushes P-A to take out the tissue play. The doctor brings the patient into hyperextension. The doctor then springs for joint play. Evaluates the A.L.L. NOT DONE AT T1-T2 Facetal Extension SCP the facet CP: thumb The doctor contacts the facet joint with his thumb. He pushes slightly P-A to take out the tissue play. The patient is brought into extension. The doctor springs the joint for joint play. This evaluates the capsular ligament
