Jessica Shelby Dr. Mina Shin IAH 211C sec 002 11 September 2011 Stereotypes are all around us in every culture, religion, gender, age and so forth. Whether good, bad, hurtful, not accurate, or mostly true, many people tend to believe these stereotypes due to the impact the media and society has on them. Stereotypes can form under any group of people. They have been around ever since humans first started viewing others as groups of people, rather than everyone being the same or equal. Using stereotypes on individuals places untruthful characteristics onto that individual, and this may result in biased views and unjust opportunities for that victim. When humans share common interests, goals, beliefs, cultures, etc., views and opinions are commonly placed on them due to the media, advertisement, and film industry. While some of the characteristics may be true to some, maybe even half of the group, these characteristics do not pertain to the group as a whole. When major film industries or the media place these
