Be Attentive: The ethical actors for this problem is me as the CEO because I have the final say in Margaret's employment. 1. Margaret 2. Shareholders 3. Others in the accounting department 4. Legal department - The first assumption I am making is that the company would be extremely hurt without Margaret's help. - The second assumption I am making is that our company has made accomodations for other employees in the past. If you wish to edit the "Be Attentive" section of your analysis, click the "edit" button below. Be Intelligent: The issue for this problem is to determine whether or not the extra time and expense to allow Margaret to work through her recovery is necessary for G-BioSport North. - Sensibility is in tension because you do not want to not allow Margaret to return to work solely because of a medical incident that was out of her control. This could lead to a legal case of discrimination. - Rationality is in tension because $35,000 is a large additional expense when there are others in the accounting department who have previously worked along Margaret's side. - Autonomity is an issue because if we allow Margaret to come back to work and make all of these special arrangements for her then this could set a standard for other disabled employees. If you wish to edit the "Be Intelligent" section of your analysis, click the "edit" button below. Be Reasonable: - Option 1: Margaret's position is extremely valuable to the company so by letting her continue to work proved we have a standard for excellence in our company. We value the work that Margaret has provided for our company since it was founded. Rules that are being considered are equal employee opportunities. If we would request for Margaret to leave we could be seen as discriminating. By keeping Margaret we will still be able to use her knowledge when reporting financials.
