The ethical actor in this scenario is me in my role as the CFO. I ultimately have the decision to decide to outsource jobs or not. Stakeholders: 1. The company as a whole: need to consider what is best for the company from a business view point. 2. Shareholders: need to determine what option will give the highest return to shareholders. 3. Local Employees: The employees in the U.S. will be losing their jobs. 4. Local Community: cutting jobs in our company can also affect the community economics as well. 5. Foreign Employees: could be providing jobs to those in need of money. Assumptions: - One assumption I am making is that the CEO has already approved with outsourcing jobs it is now just my decision to say yes or no. - Another assumption I am making is that we have determined that the Indian employees will be completely capable of performing the work. The issue at hand is determining whether the cost benefit of outsourcing jobs to India is worth the effects that it would have on the local employees and community, - Equality is in tension because you can say you are being equal by giving jobs to those in India but it is taking away jobs from those in America. - Sensibility is in tension because if you just look at financials you would choose to outsource but this is more than a financial issue. There are more ethics involved. The two options I am going to compare are to not move the jobs and to not move the jobs but ask everyone to take cost savings measures. These are my top two choices because it is the most ethical to not outsource the jobs to India. As the CFO I need to consider the long term effects of my decisions and outsourcing jobs could cause and outrage in the community. The option to ask everyone to take cost savings is the best because I am able to
