Jasmine Hill KNH 150 Section UB Field Experience Reflection Prior to the overnight trip at Germantown MetroParks, I had never successfully spent a full night in a tent and the few attempts that I had made were in my backyard with my little brother. I have, however, been on several hiking trips in all different types of landscapes. None of these trips required any cooking or prior planning. Our field experience was an entirely new process that I had never guessed would be so complicated. The most important part of the field experience to me was the escape from my everyday lifestyle. I chose to leave my cell phone and any other gadgets at my house in Oxford. The first morning while we were packing our bags at the OPC many of the other students were still checking their phones almost constantly until we arrived to the trail head. I never realized how annoying technology was until I was put in a situation where I had none available and there was also no need for it. While walking on the hiking trail I found myself completely focused on my surroundings. Not only was I a less clumsy person but I was also able to retain a lot about my physical surroundings (I noticed myself not as directionally challenged as normal). With a little
