Why Indent? A paragraph is a group of sentences that tell about a subject. The sentences are not numbered. When one sentence ends, the next sentence begins.

These sentences tell about life in colonial America. Every time a sentence ends, the next sentence begins. Life in colonial America is much different than life today. The early settlers had to hunt, fish, or grow their own food. Religion was a very important part of their life. Their clothing covered much of their bodies.
