Tell the children that over the next term, they will be  designing and making a controllable toy vehicle.  Discuss what is meant by the term ‘controllable’ and  ‘toy’. From these definitions children draw up a design  specification thinking about the potential user and  purpose. Ask children to bring in toy cars from home in order to  help us to research our ideas. Toy car Brainstorm pads 2 Generate ideas for  products after thinking  about who will use them  and what for, using  information from a number  of sources. Communicate  design ideas Children investigate toy cars, identifying the key parts  of the toy. What makes it move? How can I control it?  What does it look like?
