Santa Croce Florence, Italy,1296-1436. Its dome built by the great early renaissance Filippo Brunelleschi. The dome consist of an inner & outer shell,& skeleton of 24 ribs: 8 main ones are able to be seen from the outside. Bell-tower designed by Giotto. Cathedral (Duomo) Milan, Italy Begun 1386. Classical moldings over the windows & doorways of the façade area contrast w/the gothic spires. Interior,divided into five wide naves are reflected in the hierarchic openings of the facade. Even the transepts have aisles. The great windows of the choir are reputed to be the largest in the world.

Palzzo Pubblico Siena, Italy 1288-1310 a symbol of the city's freedom. Its tower ( Torre del Mangia ) served the double purpose of providing a lookout over the city & surrounding countryside while they expressed the determination of the city rulers to resist attack.
