The first constitution of the states and the articles of confederation reflect the spirit of the revolutioin because they were trying to make a government that wasn’t a monarchy. The state constitution was written down. It also limited the executive power because the king of britian had a lot of power and they didn’t want that same kind of dictation. They created a strong legislative branch. All these things were almost exact opposites of what England had because they were a direct response of them gaining there freedom. Articles of confederation also didn’ t want america to be like England. They said that the govt. could not raise an army, this is because they thought that the British army was very disrespectful. They couldn’t tax because they didn’t want taxation without representation. They wanted to limit the national govt. and give power to the states. Articles were a reflection of what they had just came through, they were also built off of the state constitutions. The Articles of confederation and the first constitution are both politically inadeqite. The articles
