I rencently attended the “Lonesome Dove” exibit on Monday, September 17 th . This program was held on the seventh floor of the Albert B. Alkek library at Texas State University. The gallery consisted of pictures taken from the movie “Lonesome Dove”. Although it is a movie, Lonesome Dove was first written as a book by Larry McMurtry. Artist Bill Wittliff brilliantly photographed actors from the movie. The photos were taken to portray a western themed movie, so the pictures were sephia colored. Many things from this gallery seem to be very importanat and draw significance to its viewers. Some things that were significant to me were the angles that the pictures were taken from and the emotions of the characters that the photographs captured. The different angles that were used for the pictures helped give the gallery variety. It also helped the viewer depict the mood that the character was in. For example, a profile picture of one of the characters showed the character with a determined look on his face. He also had a sense of calmness to him also.
