On Sunday, October 14 I attended a musical performance. The name of the performance was a Sophomoric Recital . It was performed in the recital hall of the music building at Texas State University. The performance featured four young women and a piano player. The young women sang songs as a group and as individuals. When they sang as a group they were referred to as The Ensemble. The Ensemble sang three songs together, Vilia, O mio babbino caro, Quando m’en vo , and they were very good. Although they were singing, they were also doing a small bit of acting also. As I noticed, during all of the Ensemble’s songs, one young woman would be excluded and she would act as if she was trying to join the group but the other members would not let her. At the end of each song, they would finally include the girl that had been left out. To me, this made the performance more dynamic and their voices projected much more when all four of them sang.
