Childbirth Dilation stage From when contractions start to full dilation of cervix (10cm) Contractions start- usually weak and irregular Become more vigorous and rapid and the infant’s head is forced against the cervix Eventually the amniotic water breaks Usually lasts 6-12 hours Expulsion From full dilation to deliverFrom full dilation to deliver of the infant
