Lecture Activity #3 Summary Main Idea Family influences child development through parenting styles and family dynamics. Teachers need to be aware of the influences of family on CD and work with family to help students reach their full potential. Parenting styles affect how children develop emotionally, cognitively, and socially. Novel Points Relationship between child and family is bi-directional. While families do affect child development, there are larger contexts that affect families and also affect child development. It's important for teachers to know children's family background and culture to be more responsive to students.
