First, each of you is to discuss at least one unique aspect of one (1) of the twelve (12) Geographic Realms. For example, the Middle American realm has no major rivers within its boundaries. Or, the Sahel separates North Africa from Subsaharan Africa. Then, from the following list, select and discuss NINE (9) of the questions / statements: 1. Explain the significance of the earth being tilted on its axis. 2. What is the significance of the earth’s rotation? 3. Explain the significance of the earth’s revolution. 4. What is the difference between latitude and longitude? 5. Explain the significance of the equator, and the north and south poles. 6. What is, and where is the Prime Meridian? 7. What happens when one crosses the International Date Line? 8. Explain the significance of the Tropic of Cancer, the Tropic of Capricorn, the Arctic Circle, and the Antarctic Circle. 9. What is map scale? 10. What is the difference between a scale of 1:1,000,000 and a scale of 1:500,000? 11. What are the four (4) classes of map symbols? 12. What are the four (4) spatial properties of a map projection?
