Chapter 8 Part 1 1. What is the definition of the Augmented product and what is the key characteristic maximizes the impact of the augmented product? Augmented Product: the attributes or features of a product that are unique to the product, meaning they are not found in other products in the category. The value of an augmentation is maximized when it reinforces the core. 2. What is the difference between packaging and labeling? What are the main functions of packaging and labeling? Packaging: designing and producing the container or wrapper for a product it holds and protects the product Labeling: labels or packaging enhancement identifies, describes, and promotes the brand and/or product Labeling is usually informational, while packaging is structural and can be used to capture consumer attention. Both can be used in a marketing campaign to position the product. Packaging can be innovative, easy to open, distinctive, small (carbon footprint), secure, etc.
