(Read, print, and bring these two pages to class Thursday, March 25) Period: _____ Title: Author: Genre: Seminar Meeting #4 Group Members: List vertically; indicate facilitator/ recorder , absences/ tardies , and homework completion checks. *Facilitators : After HW passages have been collected, checked, and recorded, give a copy of each passage to other members. Before distributing, check that your name, the title/author , and book pages are clearly labeled at the top of all copies. Notes Focus: Practice Style Analysis As a group, select one passage for analysis. Read the passage aloud. Consider the meaning/purpose of the passage: Does it develop characterization, plot, setting, or perhaps a theme in the novel? Label and write a statement of meaning at the bottom of the copy. As a group, identify as many stylistic elements as possible. Mark examples of devices, and write two complimentary— but not synonymous—words/phrases that describe the effect of the device. Notice all stylistic elements within the passage before moving on to another selection. In this manner, analyze as many passages as possible.
