Census Bureau Part I Statistic 1 Statistic 2 Statistic 3 Cultural Makeup 15.5 million United States residents are Asian or Asian in combination with other races 3.62 million Asians of Chinese descent in the United States who were either of a particular Asian group only or were of that group in combination with one or more other Asian groups or races. 2.6 million United States residents will identify themselves as Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander in combination with one or more other races in 2050. Financial $70,069 is the median household income for single-race Asians in 2008. Asian Indians the median income in 2008 was $90,528. Vietnamese-Americans median income was $55,667. 11.8% was the poverty rating for single-race Asians in 2008; this increased 10.2 percent from 2007’s poverty rating. 1.1 million businesses were owned by Asian- Americans in 2002.
