3 key elements to a film (Ex: Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate) o Objective: What each character wants or needs; a goal. Every character needs an objective and must be motivated to obtain it. Actor needs to realize that objective o Obstacle: Something that gets in the way of character's objective. Has to be challenging to the character to portray the character's desires. o Action: What character does to get past obstacle. Helps define character. Categories of Actors o Extras: minor actors that are part of the background Stunt Double/stand in: o Professional Actors: trained actors. o Stars: Iconic professional actors o Non-professional Actors: untrained actors. authenticity, sincerity, for specific skill (like a surfer), fame, cheaper Exposition/Expository Scenes: Necessary information the audience needs to know before story can continue. Tells audience things about the characters. o
