How do you know? Yes the varieties were equally affected because the average was the same after both experiments. If there was no ECB infestation in a certain year, would a farmer gain or lose financially by planting Bt corn? Explain why. The farmer would probably lose some but there isn’t a way to tell if there’s an ECB infestation during planting time. He’d still be better off using the BT corn. What might happen if Bt corn affects non-target organisms such as beneficial insects or harmless insects? BT Corn is safer than spraying insecticide on the crop. Sprays will kill all insects on contact, but BT only kills larvae that eats it. If the larvae is eating the corn it is a pest, therefore BT shouldn’t kill harmless or helpful insects.
