Brad Rogers Professor Truelsen English 134 15 February 2010 Gun rights advocates received a very large win on June 26 when a handgun ban in the District of Columbia (1976) was shot down with a five to four vote by the Supreme Court. After the gun ban was denied gun rights advocates began to challenge other bans throughout the United States that very same day. The Supreme Court upheld the fact that it was the individual persons’ right to own and possess a firearm.
