This document is somewhat old and I think the misspelling occurred during translating into a PDF) Questions to ponder: What is signiFcance of an “operational deFnition”? It is absolutely necessary to begin to address the nature of any relationship between health, adjustment, and subluxation to decide on an operational deFnition of this key concept. When is a “margin of error” clinically acceptable? I f, (1) we know what it is, and (2) the range of random variation is not greater than the magnitude of the characteristic or quality we are supposed to be measuring in the Frst place. In terms of states of health, what is the relationship between “usual” vs. “unusual” and “normal” vs. “abnormal”? Meeker illustrates these concepts these concepts by discussing blood pressure. How would they apply to our beliefs about the effect of subluxation on health? Is it abnormal structure (misalignment), abnormal motion, abnormal neural function, or all or some of the above? The crux of the problem for subluxation is deciding exactly when (at what level or point) speciFc physical indicators should be considered “abnormal,” and therefore indicative of a subluxation. Do chiropractors, according to Dr. Meeker, perform diagnostic procedures? No What does Dr. Meeker have to say about a “gold standard” for subluxation? Because there are no agreed-on gold standard measurements for the presence of a chiropractic subluxation at this
