“Level Disc Theory” The optimal relationship between two bones is when they are level on the A-P and on the Lateral. This promotes range of motion on all planes. In the lumbar spine the lordosis is primarily made up of the heights of the vertebral bodies. The disc makes up about 5% of the lumbar lordosis

(walking, talking and moving all day) This creates convergence of the endplates in the back of the FSU Cross fiber adhesions (a.k.a. cross collagen linkages) occur in the annular fibers causing fixation Fixation creates a build-up of interstitial fluid
