Hormone Testing Thyroxine T4 Produced by thyroid gland 280-480 pg/dl Used to evaluate hyper/hypothyroidism and to evaluate thyroid treatment effectiveness Tri-Iodothyroinine T3 50-90% converted from T4 and the rest is produced by the thyroid gland 60-230 ng/dl Used to evaluate hyper/hypothyroidism and to evaluate thyroid treatment effectiveness Elevated without T4 level in thyrotoxicosis Parathyroid Gland Parathyroid Hormone Secreted by parathyroid gland The sole purpose of the parathyroid glands is to: regulate the calcium level in our bodies within a very narrow range so that the nervous and muscular systems can function properly Parathyroid Hormone When blood calcium levels drop below a certain point Calcium-sensing receptors in the parathyroid gland are activated to release hormone into the blood. It then stimulates osteoclasts to break down bone and release calcium into the blood Parathormone Elevation Primary tumor or adenoma
