H U M A N R E S O U R C E S Instruction TAP MENTOR TEACHER (ELEMENTARY) Contract Days: 211 Salary Scale: Teacher Salary Schedule plus $2,500 Mentor supplement FLSA Status: Exempt Knox County Schools is expanding the TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement to Spring Hill Elementary school in the 2011-2012 school year. As such, Mentor Teachers are needed to support successful implementation. Mentor Teachers work to provide instructional leadership and help develop each teacher’s instructional practice. Along with the principal, Mentor Teachers are part of the school's TAP Leadership Team and perform formal classroom observations of teachers to help evaluate their level of effectiveness in executing the instructional rubric which forms the basis of TAP. Mentor Teachers will be chosen through a competitive, performance-based selection process which will include a Selection Committee at the building level. Mentor Teachers must have outstanding instructional skills and the ability to work effectively with other adults.
