The Photo-electric Effect What do we observe when electromagnetic radiation (light) hits a piece of metal? 1) negative particles are emitted 2) They are forcibly ejected by the light 3) The emitted particles are electrons 4) Number emitted proportional to intensity 5) Kinetic energy of electrons is independent of the intensity of the light 6) Only light above certain frequencies kick off electrons (threshold ) 7) As frequency of light increases above threshold the energy of the electrons increases.
