Ambiguity n The ambiguity here is due in part to the many different definitions and uses of the words game and play n Games are complex. In todays lecture, well learn eight additional definitions of games from eight prominent games theorists and practicioners. 1: Game by David Parlett n A formal game has a twofold structure based on ends and means. n Ends: A formal game is a contest with an endpoint as its goal. n Means: The agreed-upon rules and materials by which one wins the contest. 2: Game by Clark C.
