Many women in the United States have made a choice that will change their lives forever. The choice that a woman will remember is the unwanted child that she had aborted. This choice will not only affect her, but it will also affect the unwanted child’s father. It is a child that never asked to be born. Women must be informed the truth about abortion because they will understand the procedures of abortions, understand the emotional effects post-abortion, and understand other options that doesn’t require to have an abortion. The first reason that women should be informed about abortion is to understand the abortion procedure in the first and second trimester. The first trimester there is the “abortion pill” it is when the woman inserts a pill into her vaginaly. Then she will have a miscarriage (Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. 2010). The other alternative is when the mother goes under amnesia, she is dilated in the size of a quarter, and then doctor performs a suction curettage or vacuum aspiration (Creinin 2000). In the second trimester it is a two day procedure and a rarely performed surgical procedure where salt water, urea, or potassium chloride is injected into the amniotic sac; prostaglandins are inserted into the vagina and Pitocin is injected intravenously (Creinin 2000). The first day, the doctor inserts saltine sticks (approximately 3 inches long) it is as much as it takes to put in the mother’s uterus. The next day, the mother is put under amnesia, and she gives birth still. The second reason that women should be informed about abortion is because of the
