CEP 933 Ken Frank 11-9-11 Draft: Assignment # 3 Due 11-30-11 I. Polly C. Maker studies schools as organizations and wants to identify what factors affect teachers’ level of commitment to teaching. She will create a measure of commitment based on number of hours each teacher works per week, number of days the teacher is absent from school per year, and the importance that teaching holds in the teacher’s life (each person will be assigned one value on the whole measure -- treat this like a test score). Polly has a theory that a teacher’s level of influence regarding school matters (e.g., how much the teacher influences curricular decisions, discipline policy) is related to teachers’ commitment. To test her theory, Polly administers her survey including the measures of teacher commitment and teacher influence to 300 teachers, codes the data, and enters into SPSS. A.
