HIST 15 Midterm Handout Date of Midterm Exam: In class MONDAY OCTOBER 26, 2010 You will have 1 hour and 20 minutes for the exam. Bring a bluebook and pen/pencil. No notes, books, or cell phones will be permitted during the exam. o Anyone caught using a cell phone during the exam will receive a failing grade on the midterm. o Anyone caught cheating on the exam will receive a failing grade in the course . Spelling and grammar count. While you are not specifically being graded on your grammar, your writing needs to be clear and readable. Proper spelling and grammar make this happen. You can use specific dates if you want but you do not have to. You do, however, need to keep specific events in the proper chronological order. o You will be marked down if you provide incorrect dates. (Example of incorrect statement: “Cortes first encountered the Aztec civilization in 1600.”) o You may use general eras if you would like. (Example of acceptable way to generalize: “Cortes first encountered the Aztec
