Dreyfus Affair – young French jew who opted for a military career, accused of selling french military secrets to the german empire. Only a jew would be the traitor, only the outsider, guilt was based on anti-semitic evidence but nothing lined up - how inconvenient, they forged evidence to prove what they knew was true to begin with and convicted Dreyfus to life in prison. The secrets continued in the same handwriting, obviously not Dreyfus and the event exploded as a great scandal. Those who argued the rights of a single individual (must be overturned even if it reveals drastic corruption in the frecnh army) vs. issue of national security, cannot dishonor French army, the rights of one Jew does not weight at all against the necessity of the French army to discredit it or collapse the moral of the French army. Dreyfus is brought back, army forges to documents, and convicted again. Years later he is exonerated.
