Each eye gets a slightly different image What is common to all technologies used to creat perception of 3d from a 2d images? o They present slightly different images to each eye and then visual system computes depth on the basis of the difference of those 2 images Why does the moon appear larger on the horizon than when overhead o Horizon is perceived to farther away than the sky overhead o Perceived size of obj the retinal size and perceived depth (distance from you) o If retinal size stays same but perceived distance decrease the obj appears to be smaller Why do sun and moon appear to be sme size? o In the absence of distance cues we depend on the retinal size

The same change in retinal image local can occuer when the moves with respnt to a stationary obj. why do we perceive the obh moving in former sit but not in the latter? o Image displacement signal but no eye movement signal = obj motion o Eye movement obj stationary = image displacement and eye movement signal which means there is not actual obj motion o Obj moving but eyes moving to track = no image displacement b/c location on retina is taying same but you do get eye movement signal o If you get etither image displace signal OR eye movement singal that signifies actual obj motion but if you get both that signifies that obj is not moving and the comparator is the component of this system that is sensitive to getting these singals...
