Mkt 300 11/28 Assessing Promotional Tools Is the message you send customizable? It needs to be. What other strengths and weaknesses are there? What is the payment structure? Can the promotional response be easily measured? Personal Selling - salesperson - biggest advantage: salesperson can customize the message - salespeople have limited time so the number of customers you can reach is limited - you need to train your sales people so that everyone is on the same page - if you have high turnover, you will have to train new people every time - customer response can be easily measured Direct Marketing - customizable for demographics, less customizable than selling though - cost = customer list and contact information - you can consider past purchase behavior - customers may throw away mail, email, or put you on the do not call list Sales Promotions - you only want people who will only buy the product when it is on sale will see the product - not easily customizable easier with online advertising though
