The Effect of Recall on Retention In a second experiment, to learn a passage, students studied the passage four times and recalled it zero times (SSSS), studied the passage three times and recalled it once (SSST) or studied the passage one time and recalled it three times. The again attempted to recall the passage 5 minutes or 1 week later. At the left is the proportion of passage ideas recalled in each condition.
