(a) Mosher’s father sent her to the Albany Female Academy but refused to send her to college because her sister recently died and he wanted her close to home. Mosher’s father taught her botany in a greenhouse that he converted into a laboratory. He also hired a florist to give Celia lessons in horticulture. Mosher’s father allowed her to open a business as a florist in the greenhouse and she eventually saved enough money to attend college at Wellesley College. Mosher’s father hindered her education by not letting her go directly to college but he continued it by teacher her himself in the laboratory. 2. (a) Describe Mosher’s research findings about women’s breathing patterns. What myth did she debunk?
