It is taken from the book Computer Explorations in Signals and Systems Using Matlab, 2nd Ed., Buck et al., Prentice-Hall, 2002. The two m-files needed are listed on the attached handout and electronic versions are posted on the class website. Project 2 addresses the important subject of the effect of using finite number of bits to represent IIR filter coefficients (coefficient quantization) on filter performance. Cascade and parallel filter implementations using sections of order 2 or less to combat filter instability due to coefficients quantization error are investigated using Matlab simulations.
