(about 60 words) A landline interface (trunk) connects a landline to an Earth station which then transmits the data to a satellite wg=hich contains several transponders. A transponder is a device inside a satellite that receives signals from Earth stations and then changes and amplifies the signals and retransmits them back to another Earth station. The Earth station that receives the signal transmits it through another landline interface (trunk). 4.
