Leon Course Meeting: MWF, 10:00-10:50, in room 331 TMCB Course Description: In this course, you will learn about systems of linear equations and Gaussian elimina- tion; matrix arithmetic and algebra; determinants; vector spaces and subspaces; linear independence, bases, dimension, and rank; inner products, orthogonal sets, and least squares; eigenvalues, eigenvec- tors, and the characteristic equation; diagonalization and spectral theory for matrices; and singular value decompositions. This is Chapters 1 through 6 inclusively in the textbook. Course Website: Information about the course will be posted on Blackboard and also on math.byu.edu/ bakker Lecture Schedule: You will receive a paper copy of the lecture schedule.
