The Official Language Movement I found a pretty interesting website for the National Association for Bilingual Education. This website is for Bilingual and English language learners which talks about the importance of having bilingual societies. What I have gathered from this site is that the importance of being bilingual is to be able to understand and communicate in a nutshell. The view of this site is that it is important to make educational programs that promote learning English for the people that English is a second language. What it all comes down to is to get rid of the language barrier. This suggested that everyone should learn on the same level with no handicaps in order to have the same tools as everyone else. According to the article, the lager states with high immigrant population have the biggest issues. It seems as much as we think the program is helping that people feel it is just holding people back.
