Simnet Chapter 9 Access is a database management system (DBMS) o Creates tables (used to store data) o Creates forms (used for data entry and online display) o Enter data directly into tables or via formatted forms. o Output information form the tables via forms, queries and reports Source documents: original means of collecting the data. The first step in starting a new database is to setup the table structure or megadata. o **For ACIS 1504 we will not need to setup a megadata on your own, you will need to open a file that was already created. Objects: such as tables, queries, forms, and reports—found under the object menu o When choosing object type under object menu, all the tables or queries will be grouped together. Datasheet view: allows you to see the data stored in a table. o Allows you to add, change, and delete data in this view Design view: allows you to see the metadata setup for the table (field names, data types, and other settings that control many aspects of the database).
