Baker 1 Rob Baker Haar Survey of American History October 20, 2011 Ch.15 “The Robber Barons 1) (A) Describe Klein’s distinction between “industrial pirates” and “industrial statesmen.” Provide examples of each. (A) According to Klein, the industrial statesmen were very different from the industrial pirates. The industrial statesmen were the first entrepreneurs of the time. The statesmen were big producers and distributers and they developed a new way to do so. They started many new organizations and figured out many new ways to become wealthy. Although the statesmen were great businessmen, they soon became known as the industrial pirates. The people saw them as pirates because of the way the distributed the wealth. They saw it as unfair and cheap way to become wealthy and powerful. 2) (A) Explain what Klein means by an “emotional” versus a more “analytical and objective” approach to interpretations of the robber baron.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
