Argumentative essay TALENT MANAGEMENT I. INTRODUCTION Talent management refers to the process whereby profitable employees of a company are attracted and retained. It is an important new form of managing Human resources as more and more competition between firms/companies becomes stiff. Many people associate talent management with managing of entertainers which is necessarily not the case always. Talent Management has greatly contributed towards employee retention problem a problem that was in many companies whereby employees are attracted but the company is not able to retain them (Helen, 2007). However there are a number of employers today who don’t see talent management as a necessary tool due to the high rates of unemployment that are being experienced in many countries. II. DISCUSSION CONTRIBUTIONS OF TALENT MANAGEMENT Skills shortage Though easing from the recent acute shortages technical and management skills are still in short supply. Across all major productive sectors of an economy, experienced staffs with relevant skills are scarce. Design staff, construction & commercial managers, and manufacturing professionals in particular are rare. Also people who understand how to sell innovative solutions to a conservative construction market are also scarce (Dannie, 2007). Essential too, are those who understand how to bridge the gap successfully between the ordered manufacturing environment and traditional construction. Through talent 2
