Lecture №5 1.Topic: Carbohydrates 2.Aim: to form the knowledge about classification, about structure, about chemical properties of carbohydrate. Study of topic promotes, forms knowledge about structure and properties of carbohydrate, as base to understanding of its metabolism in living organism 3. Plane and thesis of lecture: 3.1. Plane of lecture 1. Carbohydrates, classification, carbonyl formula of Fisher, half-acetylic formula of Colly- Tollence, cyclic formula of Cheourse 2. Monosaccharide –structure, isomerism, tautomerism 3. Chemical properties of monosaccharide 4. Disaccharides maltose, cellibiose, lactose, 5. Polysaccharides: homopolysaccharides and heteropolysaccharides 6. Biological significance of carbohydrates 3.2. Thesis of lecture Carbohydrates are the numerous group of organical compounds which are essential as proteins and lipins for normal active of birng organisms. Carbohydrates are in the tissues of a human organism where they play an important role: All carbohydrates are divided into two groups: I. Simple carbohydrates ( monosaccarides) II. Complex carbohydrates Monosaccarides are not alle to hydrolize as complex carbohydrates hydrolize with the development of simple carbohydrates. Monosaccarides are geterofunctional compounds, they constitute aldehydes or ketones of polyatonic spirits or their cyclical semiacetiles. Monosaccarides contain from 3 to 10 C- atoms: triose, tetrose, pentaglucose, gecsose, etc. The most important representatives of monosaccarides of a human organism are the following: H CHO OH H HO OH H OH H CH 2 OH HO CHO H H HO OH H OH H CH 2 OH H CHO OH H HO H HO OH H CH 2 OH CH 2 OH C O H HO OH H OH H CH 2 OH carbonyl formula of gectose: glucose, mannose, galactose, and fructose, The isomery connected with the presence of aldehyde or keto-groups: 1) the optical isomery connected with the molecules of gecsose
