ENV 4561 Fall 2011 Homework # 7 Assigned: October 13, 2011 Due: October 20, 2011 (100 Points) Rework the hydraulic profile in BJP Chapter 6. Redo the example for the grit chamber (6.1), primary clarifier (6.2), aeration basin (6.3), final clarifiers (6.4) and the chlorine contact chamber (6.5). Use the following values for K: 90 ° elbow: K = 0.40 Gate valve: K = 0.26 Reducing tee: K = 1.5 Gate: K = 0.30 Since you could just copy the book answers, ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT! Make a table comparing the water surface elevations at all numbered points in the text to the values you have calculated. There should be elevations listed in your table for WSE(1) thru WSE(35) as well as four control weir elevations. You will lose points for every elevation missing. Do not round your calculations for head losses until the end. In the end, round all elevations to the nearest hundredth. If no table is included, no points will be given. Do not use the Hazen Williams Equation for friction loss. Use Manning’s equation with n=0.011 where applicable. If Hazen-Williams is used, you will lose half credit.
