Rubenfield Fall 2011 Group Project Due: Thursday, October 6 Name:____________________ In 2001 President George W. Bush signed the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Tax Act into law. This law commonly referred to as the Bush tax cuts are about to have the sunset on them and, therefore go out of existence. The law was passed was supposed to help individuals as well as small businesses and investors. Many argue that as with many of the Bush tax cuts it was weighted heavily to helping the very wealthy get wealthier. Others argued that it forestalled the recession which occurred seven years later. It doesn’t matter why. In 2010 President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. Many argue that Obama-care is a budget buster and will send our already soaring deficits through the roof.
