Part 1 – Opening a Program 1. Show the children, with Year 4 demonstrating, the correct way of putting the computer on and off. Discuss the different technical names for the different parts of a computer, e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, e.t.c. 2. The Opening Screen Discuss with the children the various terminologies, i.e. Desktop, Icon, Start Button, Mouse Pointer and Task Bar. 3. Using the Mouse Discuss what we use the two buttons for.
